Is Korčula an island or a town?

Island of Korčula has a town of the same name, similar to other well populated Croatian islands, like Vis, Hvar and others.

Both island and a town are pronounced the same (pronounced as Core-chu-la).

Town of Korčula is also the birthplace of well known explorer Marco Polo.
